What is Middle-earth MUD?

To put it simply, a MUD is a text-based online role-playing game; it is perhaps best to think of it as a combination of World of Warcraft and Zork. Middle-earth MUD itself is a MUD that was founded in 2003 by Daniel Bingham (Manwe), and has gone through two incarnations: MEM 1.0, which was a pretty basic CircleMUD, and MEM II, which added things like crafting and houses. The next incarnation, MEM III, will be based on a new MUD codebase called RealMUD, and will have nearly unlimited control by the builders over the world itself. MEM is a MUD which strives for two things: realism and accuracy to Tolkien's works.

News

Currently, MEM III is in heavy development. It is not yet in a playable form and it's not entirely known what it will be like. Therefore, the Wiki may contain out-of-date information for the time being; however, that will change soon enough.
